Profile of Ray Hobson
Ray Hobson is the Director of Annapolis Operations at the Foundation for Financial Education.
A graduate of the University of Buffalo, Ray joined the financial services industry more than 25 years ago where he became passionate in helping people improve their quality of life through financial education. Ray has always seen himself as an educator. Earning the CFP® certification, which represents a high level of competency, ethics, and professionalism, was another step in furthering his education to help others. The CFP Board is a nonprofit certification and standards-setting organization whose mission is to benefit the public by granting the CFP® certification and upholding it as a recognized standard of excellence for competent and ethical personal financial planning.
Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, Ray’s parents taught him at a young age that helping others was an important responsibility. They always encouraged Ray and his siblings to be involved in their community. So much so, that Ray and his family has started the nonprofit foundation The Walter C Hobson Community Outreach Foundation which helps to support the education & advancement of youth in Buffalo, NY.
In addition, having a son who currently serves in the Air Force has initiated a passion for helping those who serve or who have served our country. Ray has been active helping local veterans apply for certain veterans benefits that prove difficult to apply for successfully, but ultimately has been able to help them go through the process, with some of them even being approved and awarded the benefit.
Whether it’s running in a local race that is raising money for charity or attending local fundraiser galas, Ray and his wife Jackie love being a part of the community that they live in.
