Profile of Tom Strandell
Tom Strandell serves as a Volunteer Educator for the Foundation for Financial Education.
He is dedicated to helping expand the Foundation’s mission of improving financial literacy through unbiased community education.
Tom is passionate about serving others and believes meaningful education begins with building genuine relationships. Through Foundation workshops and community outreach, he is committed to making financial concepts easier to understand and more accessible to those seeking practical knowledge for life’s financial decisions.
Originally from South Dakota, Tom earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from South Dakota State University before relocating to the Kansas City area in 1998. His analytical background, combined with his commitment to education and community service, allows him to connect with audiences in a thoughtful and engaging way.
Outside of the Foundation, Tom has a long history of volunteer service. He has served on the Board of Directors for Second Mile International, the Finance Committee for the American Red Cross in St. Joseph, Missouri, and the Auction Committee for St. Joseph Christian School. He also spent many years coaching youth sports. Today, Tom enjoys spending time outdoors, fishing, watching his sons compete in football, and, most of all, making memories with his grandchildren.
